How to Watch U.S. Championships: Men's Short Program: Stream Figure Skating Live, TV Channel

The men's short program will kick off Friday afternoon as the skaters look to move into a more favorable position before the free skate later this weekend.

The U.S Championships are underway in Columbus, Ohio and on Friday afternoon, the Men's Short Program will take place as the field looks to get off to a strong start with the hopes of finishing on the podium at the conclusion of the event on Sunday. 19-year-old Ilia Malinin will be looking to repeat as the U.S. Champion this year, and in doing so, will also be looking to capture the world title in the next few months. Malinin made headlines throughout the skating world last season as the first male to land a quad axel, and did it multiple times throughout the season. He tried it in the Grand Prix this season, landing it in the short but missing it in the free program. Will he be able to pull it off in Columbus?

Jason Brown will return to U.S. Championships after foregoing the chance to compete at the Grand Prix for the second year in a row. Brown, who is now 29, has only competed in one international even this season, which is one more than he had last season before competing at the U.S. championship in which he won a silver medal.

With few others who are able to compete on the same level as Malinin and Brown, it is likely the two will take the top two spots on the podium.

Tune in Friday afternoon to see how the short program plays out.
